China Unicom Galaxy's four low-orbit satellites were successfully launched into orbit, opening a new chapter for satellite IoT. Recently, four low-orbit satellites from China Unicom Galaxy 01 to 04 were successfully launched into orbit in the sea near Rizhao, Shandong, officially opening a new chapter for domestic low-orbit satellite IoT. Among them, China Unicom Galaxy 01-03 is a low-orbit IoT communication satellite, and China Unicom Galaxy 04 is a low-orbit satellite with advanced narrowband IoT communication capabilities. China Unicom 04 Star adopts a number of core technologies such as load reconfiguration, flexible beam configuration, spectrum sensing, interference avoidance and other core technologies, and has the ability to directly connect low-power terminals, dynamic beam scheduling and complex electromagnetic environment adaptation. After it enters orbit, it will carry out on-orbit testing of a low-orbit narrowband IoT system that complies with international standards, support direct connection of low-power IoT terminals to satellite communications, support satellite IoT experiments, and take a key step towards low-orbit satellite IoT. In recent years, China Unicom has actively explored the integration and innovation of space-ground integration and vertical industries, focusing on the development of satellite + Internet of Vehicles, Internet of Things and other industries. In terms of satellite Internet of Vehicles, China Unicom completed in February 2025 an in-vehicle satellite communication field test based on Geely's future travel constellation. The test equipment was equipped with a dedicated chip module and successfully verified the vehicle terminal-on-orbit satellite-business platform full-link two-way communication capability, laying the foundation for the application of low-orbit satellites in key scenarios such as Internet of Vehicles and emergency communications. In terms of satellite Internet of Things, China Unicom will cooperate with related units in the industry chain such as China Unicom Galaxy 04 to carry out technical system verification and multiple application scenario testing, promote the integrated and innovative application of satellite Internet of Things in various industries such as industry, agriculture, transportation, energy, etc., and strengthen cross-integration with new generation information infrastructure such as the Industrial Internet, Internet of Vehicles, and low-altitude intelligent Internet. Today, four low-orbit satellites launched in cooperation with Spacetime Daoyu have also been successfully put into orbit.
